Teri reaches CTU again with Eli's stolen phone, and Nina connects her to Jack. Rick notices where she has hidden it but keeps quiet while Eli searches. Jack listens as Teri describes the journey and surroundings, hoping Milo can narrow the signal to the compound. Police stop Jack during the call, forcing him to flee into a parking lot. He reassures both Teri and Kim while hiding beneath a car, then continues asking for details that might help him find them.
Eli returns and discovers the phone when its weakening signal makes it beep. Jack threatens him, but Eli ends the call before CTU can establish an exact location. Rick stops Eli from reporting it by pointing out that the women called for help on his own missing phone. CTU learns that Jamey has died after being taken to hospital. Tony finds a lead in her email: businessman Ted Cofell, linked to the money paid to Gaines. Jack heads for Cofell's office.
Andre Drazen calls Gaines and threatens to withdraw his payment after the failed assassination. At the school visit, Palmer learns that campaign contributors may have ordered Carl to silence Keith's therapist, Ferragamo. He demands that Carl contact him. Alberta Green arrives to replace Jack at CTU and makes finding him her priority, while Nina conceals their continuing contact. Jack reaches Cofell's building as the businessman leaves. He pulls the fire alarm to delay the lift and takes his driver's place before Cofell enters the limousine.
