Remnant II Getting Started: Archetypes, Traits and World Order
On this page
Start with one role, then add another
Your opening archetype sets your first loadout and play style, but it does not lock the character. Challenger favours close range, Hunter rewards accurate shooting, Medic brings healing, and Handler adds a companion. Pick the kit you will use while learning enemy timing.
Unlock another archetype’s required item, then have Wallace convert it into an Engram. The archetype in the first slot supplies the active Prime Perk, so slot order matters. See Archetypes and Dual-Classing before rearranging a pair.
Spend for the problem in front of you
Traits provide passive bonuses. Use early points against a repeated failure: health for surviving a combo, stamina when dodges run dry, or handling support when recoil pulls you off target. The spendable cap has changed since launch, so avoid old fixed-number plans. The reusable Orb of Undoing supports experimentation.
Weapon Mods are active abilities powered during combat. Mutators are separate passive weapon upgrades. The Traits, Mods and Mutators guide separates them.
Explore the world you rolled
Campaign worlds, quests, dungeons and rewards vary between rolls. Your first major world is rolled for you; you do not freely choose Losomn, Yaesha or N’Erud. Search side paths and return to Ward 13 with crafting materials.
Adventure Mode rerolls an eligible world separately from the campaign, preserving campaign progress. A difficult boss is a prompt to tune gear, upgrade a weapon or explore the current roll; another campaign world may not yet be available.
