Remnant II Traits, Weapon Mods and Mutators

On this page

Four layers, different controls

Traits are passive character bonuses bought with trait points. An Archetype Trait rises with that archetype and becomes available to other builds at maximum archetype level; investing after that uses the shared trait-point pool.

Weapon Mods are active firearm abilities. Standard ranged weapons with an empty slot accept swappable Mods for damage, control or support. Special weapons carry an attached Mod that cannot be removed or installed elsewhere. Check the weapon before planning a swap.

Mutators occupy a separate weapon slot and provide passive or triggered effects. They do not level through use. Dwell upgrades them with Scrap and Corrupted Lumenite Crystals; a fully upgraded Mutator gains its listed final bonus. Choose a trigger that matches actions you already perform.

Tune one problem at a time

Name the failure before changing everything. Traits can add survival or handling. A Mod can answer a group, create a damage window or support an ally. A Mutator can reward actions such as reloading, charging or activating a Mod. Read its current description because patches change values and triggers.

Change one layer, run the encounter again, and judge whether the failure happens less often. This produces a build you understand.

Fragments and Prisms now sit together

Relic Fragments are no longer attached to a Relic. The current interface remembers three slotted bonuses when Relics change. Prisms are a separate progression layer using Fragment-type stats. Feeding a Fragment to a Prism destroys it and only increases the chance of seeing that stat; the result is not guaranteed.

Treat a Prism as longer-term tuning and keep immediate fixes in traits, gear, Mods and Mutators. Archetypes and Dual-Classing explains the Prime Perk slot.
