Keep Your Base Pals Fed and Rested
On this page
Keep food and rest within easy reach before adding more workers. A quick walk past the Feed Box, beds and workstations will tell you more than another production building.
Stock the box your Pals eat from
Unlock Feed Box at Technology level 4 for two Technology Points. Gather 20 Wood, open the Build menu’s Food category, place the box inside your base and finish construction. Interact with it and transfer edible items from your inventory into its slots. Hungry base Pals eat from it automatically; operating the box needs neither power nor a worker. Feed Box details
Leave a clear approach and watch a hungry Pal reach the food. A pile of berries in an ordinary chest is easy to overlook when you are checking whether the Feed Box is stocked. Check the box itself before adding another one.
Cook a few Baked Berries at a Campfire. Open its recipe menu, select Baked Berries, choose a quantity your Red Berries can cover, and start production. Complete the work with the displayed prompt or a suitable Pal, collect the finished food, then move it into the Feed Box. Each Baked Berry uses one Red Berry and restores nutrition plus a little SAN. Keep some food with you for the next trip. Food icons show a spoilage countdown, so check your stock again before leaving. To feed a Pal directly, approach it, choose the Feed interaction and select food from your inventory. Food and feeding
Give every worker somewhere to rest
Provide one Straw Pal Bed per deployed worker. Unlock the bed in Technology, gather the listed materials and place it from the Build menu. Finish construction and keep the approach clear. Pals recover SAN while resting in these beds; each bed accommodates one Pal. Straw Pal Bed
SAN and hunger are separate needs. Work generally reduces SAN, and Pals take breaks to recover it. Beds and Hot Springs help recovery; a full hunger bar does not mean a Pal has high SAN. Sanity
Add a Hot Spring when you have its technology and materials. Base Pals placed in a Hot Spring stay until their SAN is full. Leave them time to recover instead of immediately directing them back to work. Pocketpair’s Hot Spring change
Read the problem before changing the base
- Food available, Pal still hungry: check that the food is in the Feed Box and the Pal can reach it. Feed it directly while you fix a blocked approach.
- Hunger full, SAN low: check sleeping spaces and access to the Hot Spring. At a Monitoring Stand, use the work-intensity controls to choose an easier pace when needed. Monitoring Stand
- Needs look healthy, work still idle: inspect the recipe queue and required suitability using the Pal work guide.
Check again after a task finishes. If an illness remains, read its status instead of assuming another meal cures it. Before adding a worker or heading out for more captures, make sure the current team can reach its food, rest and jobs.
