Train Three Pawns That Fight Alone

On this page

You travel with three AI companions in Dark Arisen, and the store is careful to say they are not simply followers: they fight independently.

Independence is the feature

A comparison of the three Dark Arisen Pawns who travel with you against Pawns borrowed online for specific skills, with treasure and strategy hints as rewards.
The party is a toolkit, not a fixed set. Open the full image.

The Pawns demonstrate prowess and ability that they have developed based on traits learned from each player. That sentence is worth reading twice, because it means the Pawn you end up with is a product of how you have been playing rather than a preset you selected from a menu at the start.

Sharing, and what comes back

PC users can share these Pawns online and reap rewards of treasure, tips and strategy hints for taking down the terrifying enemies. The rewards described are information as much as loot, which makes a borrowed Pawn a way of borrowing somebody else’s experience with a fight you have not solved yet.

Borrowing for a specific job

Pawns can also be borrowed when specific skills are needed to complete various challenging quests. That reframes the roster as a toolkit: rather than keeping one party forever, you can go and find the capability you are missing when a quest asks for something your own three do not have.

The combat those Pawns are trained for is covered in climbing it and cutting it apart. The nine vocations behind the whole build are covered in picking from nine vocations.
