Code Vein II: Weapons, Jails and Upgrades

On this page

Pick a family by its real job

Code Vein II has seven weapon families: one-handed sword, two-handed sword, twin blade, bayonet, halberd, hammer, and rune blade. Each asks for a different rhythm. One-handed swords offer adaptable combos; two-handed swords trade speed for reach and single-hit power; twin blades reward mobility; bayonets move between melee and gunfire; halberds control mid-range; hammers disrupt stances; rune blades combine acrobatic melee with Formae support.

Test the basic string and compatible Weapon Formae before investing. Patch 2.01 adjusts Formae performance across weapon types and changes several named options, so an old damage ranking can age quickly.

Upgrade the correct system

Jadwiga’s Workshop enhances Weapons, Jails, and Bequeathed Formae. It also uses Transformation to apply elements to Weapons and Defensive Formae. Jails modify stats and determine Drain actions, and upgrading a Jail also increases Partner attack power.

Match the weapon, Jail and Defensive Forma against the attributes and Burden of your current Blood Code. An Overburdened setup grants a Benefit and a Penalty, so judge the actual dodge, stamina and damage rather than reading Burden as a simple equipment-weight failure.

Use MagMell’s Training Grounds to compare a candidate at no combat risk, then spend materials on the setup you can control. Blood Codes and Partners explains attributes and Burden; Formae and Builds explains ability roles.
