Code Vein II Formae: Equip Skills and Restore Ichor
On this page
Choose the attack and the opening together
You can equip up to four Weapon Formae to a weapon. Combat Formae add weapon attacks, Magic Formae cover distance, and Support Formae provide buffs or enhancements. A compact bar with four clear jobs is easier to use than four attacks competing for the same opening.
Bequeathed Formae summon a distinct weapon for a powerful attack. The summon takes time, so create an opening before committing. Defensive Formae offer a Guard, Counter, or special evasive maneuver; choose one and practise its timing rather than assuming every attack can be parried.
Make the Ichor loop sustainable
Formae spend Ichor. Jails define your Drain actions, and successful Drain Attacks restore the resource. A useful build therefore needs both a way to spend Ichor and a safe way to rebuild it.
| Fight problem | Loadout direction |
|---|---|
| Crowds interrupt casts | Fast Combat Forma or summoned Partner |
| Target stays out of reach | Magic Forma or bayonet pressure |
| Buff expires unused | Shorter setup or a clearer attack window |
| Ichor stays empty | Safer Jail and Drain timing |
Successive hits can stagger an enemy and open a special Drain opportunity. Your Partner’s Drain Attacks also return a small amount of Ichor to you. Watch the resource gauge during a short attack sequence: if each repetition spends more than it restores, save the expensive Forma for a longer opening.
Check attributes after changing equipment
Your Blood Code influences Forma performance. Mind affects Support Forma duration and Magic Forma attack power; Determination mainly affects Magic Forma attack power. A weapon comparison alone will miss those changes. Read the Forma’s displayed values after swapping Codes, then test the move again.
Defensive Formae also contribute Burden. If a new defensive option changes your dodge, inspect the affected attributes before blaming the encounter. The Blood Code and Partner guide explains how these equipment choices work together.
Upgrade and test at MagMell
Jadwiga’s Workshop can enhance Bequeathed Formae as well as weapons and Jails. Transformation is a different service: it can add elements to weapons and Defensive Formae. Choose the service for the equipment you intend to change and inspect its material requirements before confirming it.
Use MagMell’s Training Grounds and Jadwiga’s sparring minions to compare two setups. Start with the same weapon and try one change at a time. Check whether the attack connects at your usual distance, how long you remain committed, and whether you have enough Ichor left for your next action. A larger damage number is less useful if the move repeatedly misses its opening.
Recheck older combinations on version 2.01
The official 2.01 notes adjust Forma performance across weapon types, several Support Formae, Bequeathed Forma bleed and Bloodreaver Blade’s Ichor cost. They also fix cases where intended unparryable attacks could be countered. Check your title-screen version when an older build demonstration behaves differently, and compare the current in-game cost before copying its attack sequence.
