Point Blanc
Investigations into the accidental deaths of two of the world's most powerful men reveal a single link: both had sons attending Point Blanc Academy, an exclusive school for rebellious rich children run by a sinister man named Dr Grief and sited high on an isolated peak in the French Alps.
About
Point Blanc is the second book in the Alex Rider series, written by British author Anthony Horowitz. It was released in the United Kingdom on 3 September 2001 and in North America on 15 April 2002 under the alternate title Point Blank.
The plot opens with the killing of an American electronics billionaire, Michael J. Roscoe, by a contract killer in his New York office, and with a separate thread in which a man known as Skoda sells drugs to Alex's classmates. Alex follows Skoda to a barge on the Thames at Putney and is caught by police after using a crane to lift the barge out of the water, which is how he comes to the attention of the people who send him undercover.
The assignment places a schoolboy inside an institution built for the children of the powerful, in a setting that is deliberately cut off from the outside world. The book was adapted into a graphic novel in 2007, written by Antony Johnston with art by Kanako Damerum and Yuzuru Takasaki, and it became the basis of the first season of the Amazon Prime Video series Alex Rider in 2020, with Otto Farrant as Rider.
