Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a fantasy novel by J. K. Rowling and the fourth book in the Harry Potter series. It follows Harry through his fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the mystery of how his name entered the Triwizard Tournament, an entry that obliges him to compete. It was published by Bloomsbury in the United Kingdom and Scholastic in the United States, on 8 July 2000 in both countries.

That simultaneous release was a first for the series. The novel won a Hugo Award in 2001, and it is the only Harry Potter book to have done so. The plot begins with an attack at the Quidditch World Cup by cloaked figures who resemble the Death Eaters, the followers of Voldemort, and continues into a school year in which a new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, Alastor Moody, takes up the post.

The book is longer than the three that precede it, which let Rowling widen the series from a school story into something closer to a political one, with a ministry, a press and a tournament that puts students from three countries in the same place. It was adapted into a film released worldwide on 18 November 2005, and into a video game published by Electronic Arts.
