Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Harry Potter leaves Privet Drive for the last time, and the protective charm that has kept him safe is broken.
About
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a fantasy novel by J. K. Rowling and the seventh and final book of the Harry Potter series. It was released on 21 July 2007, published by Bloomsbury in the United Kingdom, Scholastic in the United States and Raincoast in Canada. It follows directly from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and closes the confrontation between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort.
The novel broke sales records on release, surpassing the marks set by the earlier titles in the series, and it holds the Guinness World Record for the most novels sold within twenty-four hours, with 8.3 million copies in the United States and 2.65 million in the United Kingdom. Reception was generally positive, and the American Library Association named it a Best Book for Young Adults.
The story takes Harry to the edge of seventeen and removes the protections that had kept him hidden, which is why the book can be described as a chase across a country rather than a year at school. A film adaptation was released in two parts, Part 1 in November 2010 and Part 2 in July 2011.
