Guardian Angel
The pirate Pagan is despised by the ton, whose riches he plunders, and loved by the poor, whose plight his gifts relieve, and the Marquess of Cainewood has sworn to hunt him down in revenge for the death of his brother.
About
Guardian Angel is a historical romance by the American writer Julie Garwood, published in 1990. It is the second book of her Crown's Spies series.
The pirate Pagan sails the seas in a ship called the Emerald. He is hated by the ton, whose riches he takes, and loved by the poor, whose difficulties his gifts relieve, and the Marquess of Cainewood has sworn to hunt the man down and kill him in revenge for his brother's death.
That plan is interrupted when a woman called Jade appears at his door, begging for his protection from the men who want her dead. She has rippling red hair and green eyes, she is infuriating and exasperating as well as beautiful, and no woman has ever bewildered the marquess the way she does.
Caine agrees to keep her safe, and the two of them are drawn into a web of treachery that tests what they have begun to feel for each other. The novel is the second of the Crown's Spies books, a series of related stories rather than a single long one.
