Dark Possession
Manolito De La Cruz knows he is dangerously close to turning into a vampire when Prince Mikhail calls him back to the Carpathian homeland, and there he catches the scent of his destined lifemate in MaryAnn Delaney.
About
Dark Possession is a paranormal romance novel by Christine Feehan, published in 2007 and the eighteenth book in her Dark series. Its two central figures are Manolito De La Cruz, who is close to turning, and MaryAnn Delaney, the human woman he recognises as his lifemate.
MaryAnn is a counsellor for battered women and has come to the Carpathian mountains with her best friend, Destiny, and Destiny's lifemate, Nicolae. Manolito overhears her saying that she would never be with a Carpathian and would count on the Prince to protect her, and he responds by making a blood bond with her without telling anyone and leaving her with no memory of it.
He then persuades Juliette, the lifemate of his brother Riordan, to approach MaryAnn about helping Juliette's sister in South America, which gives him a reason to be near her. Manolito was born and raised in the Carpathian mountains and is a law unto himself, while MaryAnn's life is already full and has no room in it for a man of that kind, and the novel works out the consequences of a bond she did not agree to and does not know exists.
