Choose a Legend and Give Your Squad a Clear Plan

On this page

Choose a Legend whose abilities you can explain before the match starts. Give yourself a familiar backup, then practise one situation where each ability would help a teammate.

This guide covers Core Unranked on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in Season 30: Marked. Core squads can select each Legend only once, so a backup matters when someone picks your favourite first.

Use your class to find a useful action

EA divides Legends into five classes. Class perks apply in Core modes. Use the class focus to think about what you can contribute, then judge the actual fight before acting.

Class Main focus A useful question before acting
Assault Combat Is the squad ready to take this fight?
Controller Area control Which space do we need to hold?
Recon Enemy information What do we know before moving?
Skirmisher Mobility Can we move without splitting up?
Support Squad recovery Who needs help before we advance?

You still need to aim, watch nearby threats and communicate whichever class you choose. A mobile Legend can wait for a recovering teammate. A Support can help finish a fight. Avoid treating the class name as a rule that decides every move for you.

Support and Assault special perk bins were removed in Marked. Build your opening around the loot you find instead of searching for those bins.

Learn a main and a backup

Bangalore, Lifeline and Wraith are available to new players. Start with one you enjoy controlling and learn another for the matches where your first choice is taken.

Read the passive, tactical and ultimate descriptions. In the Firing Range, try the inputs and placement. Decide where you would stand before using an ability and where you would go afterwards. Practising the whole action helps more than pressing the button once and immediately queuing.

For example, Bangalore’s Smoke Launcher creates a smoke wall. Think about whose view you want to interrupt; avoid dropping it across a teammate’s planned shot. Keep a route to solid cover instead of assuming the smoke makes the position safe.

Lifeline’s Combat Medic uses D.O.C to revive a teammate while she can move and defend. Once the revive begins, watch the direction an enemy could approach. Opening a loot box at that moment leaves the recovering teammate exposed. These ability descriptions are in EA’s Legend guide.

Five Core class focuses with a practical team question: Assault combat, Controller area control, Recon enemy information, Skirmisher mobility and Support recovery. Class choice does not prevent any teammate from communicating, helping or retreating.

Separate an enemy callout from a plan to push

“Enemy on the roof” reports a position. “Let’s push the roof” proposes a fight. Make that distinction clear, especially while someone is healing or still travelling to the squad.

Before advancing, agree on a destination and check who is ready. If the team stalls, ping one covered position where you can regroup. Use the first-match routine to keep that movement organised, and the recovery guide when someone needs help returning to the fight.

If you keep dying alone, wait for the squad before using your movement ability. If your tactical stays unused, practise one clear trigger for it. After the next match, ask whether your ability made a teammate’s next action easier.
