Fight in Three Dimensions
On this page
AION 2 is described as the only MMORPG built around a world where the sky is the battlefield, which makes flight a combat system rather than a way of getting around.
Flight is the fight
As a Daeva, flight is not a travel mechanic: it is how you fight, how you explore and how you impose your will on the world. Reading that literally is the fastest way to understand the difference, because everything else in the design is described as being built on top of it.
Altitude is the advantage
The store says you gain altitude to gain advantage, and that precision, timing and positioning shape every battle. That turns vertical space into the thing a fight is actually fought over, rather than scenery you fly past on the way to somewhere more interesting.
Every fight is a decision
Chain skills seamlessly, customize your class to fit your playstyle, and adapt as encounters escalate is the store’s instruction, followed by the claim that every fight is a decision rather than a rotation. Adapting matters more than a memorised order when the encounter itself can move in three dimensions.
Who you are fighting for is covered in choosing a faction and ascending. What you fight through is covered in running dungeons and Shugo festivals.
