Work the Three Resources
On this page
Wolcen runs on three resources. Rage and Willpower interact with each other through what the publisher calls the Resource Opposition System, and Stamina pays for the dodge-roll.
Two resources, one system
Because Rage and Willpower are described as interacting rather than sitting in separate pools, the practical question is which side of the opposition your build lives on. A skill that builds one resource is often spending pressure on the other, which is why a mix of both types fights the system rather than using it.
Stamina is survivability with a second job
Stamina is spent on the dodge-roll to avoid danger, and the store notes it can also be used to travel faster. That makes it the resource you notice when it is empty, and turning it into a movement tool costs you the roll you may need a moment later.
Let gear support the plan
Gear arrives at common, magical, rare and legendary levels, with unique items and rare affixes breaking the usual rules. Because the store frames items as how you gear up according to your offensive and defensive choices, the loot you chase should reinforce whichever side of the resource opposition you chose.
What you can even cast comes from what you are carrying, covered in letting the weapon pick your skills. Long-term power sits in the Gate of Fates.
