Maeve wakes in Warworld, where Hector appears as a resistance fighter helping her escape Nazi soldiers. His lack of recognition tells her that something is wrong. Back in the park's apparent operations center, even familiar technicians fail to respond as she expects. Lee Sizemore then appears alive and offers to take her to the Forge so she can reach her daughter in the Sublime.
Lee's questions expose the trap. He is a simulation of the dead writer, and the entire setting has been constructed to extract information from Maeve. She overwhelms its limited processing power, creating contradictions that freeze the other inhabitants. With the simulated Lee's help, she reaches outside the false world and takes control of a maintenance robot. It carries her control unit out of the building, but armed guards shoot it down before she can escape.
Bernard returns to Westworld and finds Stubbs injured after a failed attempt to end his own existence. Stubbs reveals that he is a host and helps Bernard search for Maeve, whose control unit is missing. Bernard checks his own code and finds a lead connecting Dolores to Liam Dempsey Jr.; he gives Stubbs a new duty to protect him. Maeve, meanwhile, wakes in Serac's home. Serac wants her to kill Dolores, whom he blames for disrupting his system. When Maeve tries to attack him, he freezes her with a remote command.
