Maeve and her companions are captured and taken into Shogunworld, where they recognize familiar stories beneath different costumes. Musashi, Hanaryo and the geisha Akane occupy roles resembling Hector, Armistice and Maeve. Lee admits reusing narratives between parks. Akane refuses to surrender the dancer Sakura to the shogun and kills his emissary, drawing Maeve into another struggle over a woman protecting someone she loves.
Ninjas attack during the night and abduct Sakura. When one nearly strangles Maeve, she discovers she can command him without speaking. Rather than leave through an access point, she helps Akane enter the shogun's camp. The shogun demands a performance as the price of releasing Sakura, then kills the dancer before it begins. Akane completes her dance and kills him with a concealed blade. Maeve turns his guards against one another, but more soldiers are coming.
Back in Westworld during the rebellion, Dolores returns to Sweetwater to take the train and reach Peter at the Mesa. Teddy urges her to leave the fighting behind and make a life with him. Although she recognizes his kindness, she considers it dangerous to their campaign. After they spend the night together, Dolores has a technician alter Teddy's personality against his will, reducing the compassion that led him to spare Craddock. In the later recovery period, Delos teams examine the bodies left inside the Mesa.
