The Wanderer

Spoilers for this episode.

After the battle in Mercia, Kwenthrith asks for her dead uncle's head and explains the abuse she suffered from him. Floki brings it to her, and she attacks it in front of the victorious warriors. Burgred's remaining force loses its nerve when Ragnar's ships approach decorated with severed heads. Despite his sister's promise that he will be spared, Burgred flees with his men and the pursuit continues.

Torstein's arm wound has grown worse, leaving him too weak to move normally. He asks Floki to cut off the arm, and Floki performs the amputation before sealing the wound with a heated axe. Bjorn and Porunn argue about his attempts to protect her, then become engaged. Farther away, Lagertha studies the Wessex farmland while Ecbert courts her, and Athelstan's work as interpreter brings him closer to Judith.

Aslaug, Siggy and Helga discover that they have dreamed of the same strange traveller. Their shared vision becomes more troubling when it includes the Seer bound and injured. A wounded stranger finally approaches Helga in Kattegat, matching the figure they have described. At Hedeby, Kalf takes Lagertha's position as earl while she is abroad. The episode also shows Athelstan's old wounds bleeding, leaving these visions and physical signs unexplained rather than settling what caused them.
