Baptism of Fire

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Geralt's companions try to cross the river toward Caed Dhu, but northern soldiers and Nilfgaardian forces both turn the passage into a battlefield. Milva rejoins them under fire before the group takes shelter beneath a contested bridge. She begins miscarrying and cannot move. Regis and Jaskier remain to help her while Geralt, Cahir and Zoltan join the Northern defence above. Holding the bridge gives their companions time to treat Milva and prevents the attackers from reaching the place where she lies.

Geralt and Cahir fight together and help repel Nilfgaard's assault. Queen Meve rewards the witcher's intervention by knighting him as Geralt of Rivia. The honour fulfils an old wish but also binds him to her service, complicating the search he still needs to continue. At Montecalvo, Yennefer urges the sorceresses to build a Lodge and a home for their shared future. She has Triss trace Vilgefortz through the blood on Vesemir's dagger. The resulting portal leaves her in a stormy sea facing a whirlpool.

Bonhart destroys the Rats at Jealousy, and Ciri cannot save the companions who have become her family. She attacks him, but her training cannot overcome his skill. He keeps her alive, then forces her to watch as he takes the dead outlaws' heads for their bounties. Mistle is among those she loses. The season closes with Ciri captive, Yennefer in danger and Geralt's new allegiance standing between him and an unrestricted search.
