Unto Others

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Omar is attacked in prison, learns Marlo placed a bounty on him and asks Butchie’s men for a phone so he can call in a favor. Bunk tries to reopen Omar’s case, but Crutchfield and Holley refuse to consider that Omar may be innocent. Bunk approaches prosecutor Ilene Nathan and persuades her to move Omar to a safer facility; she says the favor is repaid. Greggs and Norris investigate the murdered witness. After noticing nobody heard the gunshot, Greggs returns to the scene and follows a ricochet to a backyard where potatoes were used to muffle target practice.

Greggs finds the gun and concludes that the witness died from a stray round during backyard target practice, rather than a planned assassination. At school, Prez uses the pupils’ interest in gambling to teach probability. Elsewhere, Joe suggests stealing Marlo’s surveillance camera to discover whether local police or federal agents are watching. Herc finds the camera missing and questions Randy, pressing the boy to claim he witnessed Lex’s murder rather than merely passing on a message. Sydnor objects to his aggressive approach. Herc dismisses the information as inadequate and fails to pass it to Bunk, leaving Randy exposed without advancing the murder case.
