Bunk and Beadie propose using a computer to monitor dock traffic. Landsman initially objects, but Daniels eventually agrees to take the Jane Doe murders after Rawls promises to give him everything he asks. Daniels secures the resources for his detail. Greggs and Prez follow Eastern European dancers from a club to an apartment, while Herc and Carver begin surveillance of the portside drug trade.

Stringer attends D’Angelo’s wake and knows the death was murder, while Avon and Wee-Bey believe D’Angelo died by suicide. Proposition Joe proposes sharing supply and territory with the Barksdales; Stringer takes the idea to Avon, who rejects it. Frank watches a film of robotic dock machinery, asks Nat to extend his term as treasurer, and gives cash to an injured stevedore’s family without explaining where it came from.

Herc and Carver hide a surveillance bug in a tennis ball to monitor Frog, but the ball rolls into traffic and is crushed by a truck. They plan to invent an informant to recover the expense. Beadie and Freamon watch Horseface lose a container, follow it to an east-side warehouse, and photograph Sergei meeting Proposition Joe. Frank’s separate efforts to save dock jobs continue as he presses the union’s lobbyist to pursue dredging.
