Old Cases

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

McNulty and Greggs try to turn dealer Marvin Browning into an informant, but he refuses their offer even when the prosecutor seeks a harsh sentence. Herc and Carver go looking for Bodie at juvenile detention and discover that he has escaped; a search of his grandmother’s home finds no sign of him. Bunk and McNulty review old homicide files for links to the Barksdale crew. Landsman assigns them Deirdre Kresson’s murder, though it appears unrelated. At the scene, they reconstruct the killing with terse exchanges and find a bullet and casing missed by the earlier investigators. Rawls offers McNulty a return to regular duty if he closes the detail within two weeks.

Elsewhere, Bubbles tells Greggs that Omar’s crew robbed the Barksdale stash. Omar’s partner Brandon admits he used Omar’s name during the robbery, while Omar worries that the gang may target Brandon. Avon orders his enforcers to kill Omar’s crew and doubles the bounty after learning Omar is gay. Bodie returns to the Pit after escaping detention. D’Angelo claims he killed Kresson after she threatened to testify, telling the others that Avon sent him to silence her. The dealers destroy the new security cameras around the towers. Freamon identifies the wall number from the previous episode as D’Angelo’s.
