Cold Stones

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Vito approaches Tony at a shopping mall and offers money for permission to return to the organization. He proposes operating in Atlantic City, but Tony's associates reject the arrangement. Vito reunites with his family and tells his children that he has been working as a spy. His attempt to reconnect with Jim by telephone is rebuffed. Phil insists that Vito cannot be allowed to return, and Tony begins considering his murder. Before Tony acts, Gerry Torciano and Fat Dom ambush Vito in his motel room. Phil watches as they beat him to death with pool cues. Tony interprets the killing of his captain as a challenge to his authority.

Fat Dom subsequently visits Satriale's and makes crude remarks about Vito, eventually directing his insults at Carlo. Silvio strikes Dom, and Carlo stabs him to death. Tony arrives, sees the body and leaves them to handle it. Carmela meanwhile visits Paris with Rosalie and becomes absorbed in the city's history and the passage of time. She dreams of Adriana walking her dog, with a policeman saying that Adriana is dead; this remains a dream rather than information Carmela has confirmed. At home, Tony discovers that A.J. concealed losing his Blockbuster job. When A.J. resists a construction job Tony has arranged, Tony smashes his car's windshield. Vito's children learn the truth about their father through a newspaper report.
