Mergers & Acquisitions

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Tony attempts to conduct business through Christopher and other intermediaries, but his increased leisure leaves him restless and he continues interfering in their decisions. At the stables, he meets Ralph's girlfriend Valentina, who helps arrange a portrait of Tony with Pie-O-My. Tony begins sleeping with her but hesitates over continuing a relationship with another mobster's girlfriend. Valentina says that she and Ralph do not have conventional intercourse. Tony pays Janice for information about Ralph's sexual interests, and her account reassures him enough to continue with Valentina after the couple separates. At home, Carmela finds an artificial fingernail among Tony's clothes and recognizes evidence of another affair.

Carmela takes forty thousand dollars from the cash Tony has concealed in duck-feed containers and distributes it among investments with separate brokers. She leaves the fingernail where Tony can find it, and neither openly discusses what the other has done. While Furio is in Naples following his father's death, he admits to his uncle that he loves his boss's wife. His uncle warns that killing the boss would be the only way to pursue her. Paulie also intervenes in his mother's personal life after women at Green Grove exclude her. He pressures Cookie's son to make his mother include Nucci. When persuasion fails, Paulie's men attack the son, and Nucci gains a place in the group.
