Second Opinion

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Junior's cancer surgery leaves concerns about whether all the affected tissue was removed. A second opinion and a medical review recommend further treatment, but his surgeon, Dr. Kennedy, becomes difficult to reach. Tony and Furio confront Kennedy on a golf course and intimidate him into giving Junior more attention. Kennedy subsequently visits Junior and supplies a direct telephone number, allowing Junior to believe his surgeon's interest has returned.

Christopher resents Paulie's humiliating checks, including a strip search and an intrusion into the apartment he shares with Adriana. Tony dismisses some of his complaints but tells Paulie to stop the personal harassment. Paulie warns Christopher against complaining again. Elsewhere, Angie tells Carmela she needs money for veterinary bills. Tony discovers that she owns a new Cadillac, damages it with a baseball bat and orders her to bring financial requests directly to him.

Carmela faces pressure to make a large donation to Columbia, while Tony prefers a much smaller contribution. After seeing Melfi alone, she consults Dr. Krakower, who urges her to leave Tony with the children and refuses payment from criminal earnings. Carmela returns home distressed and lies on the sofa, unable to settle the problem he has described. She demands that Tony contribute fifty thousand dollars to the university. He agrees and persuades her to join him for dinner.
