Carmela wants Meadow to attend a university closer to home and seeks a Georgetown recommendation from Joan, Jeannie's sister. Joan initially refuses to write another letter. Carmela arrives with a ricotta pie and presses the request until Joan agrees, using the visit to make her expectations difficult to dismiss. Her intervention puts Tony's family reputation behind a college application while Meadow continues considering a future that would take her farther from her parents.
Tony orders Richie to provide a wheelchair ramp for Beansie, and Paulie and Silvio reinforce the demand. Richie also presents Tony with a leather jacket taken from Rocco DiMeo, treating the gift as a token of his former standing. He is offended when he later sees the jacket on the maid's husband. Tony's casual disposal of the trophy adds another grievance to Richie's existing resentment about his place in the organisation.
Matt and Sean grow frustrated with their low position and the disrespect they receive from other men in the crew. Hoping that an attack on Christopher will impress Richie, they shoot him outside a diner. Christopher returns fire and kills Sean before collapsing. Matt runs to Richie for protection, but Richie refuses to support the attack and drives him away. Christopher is taken to hospital, where Tony and the others wait while his condition remains critical.
