A.J. and his friends steal sacramental wine at school and arrive drunk at gym class. Tony and Carmela meet the school psychologist, who raises the possibility of attention difficulties. They resist his explanation and later argue about who is responsible for their son's behaviour. Tony begins recalling his own childhood, including seeing Johnny Boy and Junior beat a man in the street. In therapy, he describes Livia's threatening behaviour and worries that his son may have inherited the same impulses that shaped him. The memories also show Johnny using outings with Janice to conceal criminal meetings from his young son.
Tony remembers following his father to a fairground and seeing him arrested. He also recalls Livia blocking Johnny's chance to move the family to Reno for work. These experiences feed his concern about what A.J. understands of the present family business. While they change a tyre, A.J. asks about the Mafia, and Tony gives him an evasive answer rather than a full explanation. During a visit to Green Grove, A.J. innocently tells Livia that Tony sees a psychiatrist. She tries to pass the information to Junior, but Tony interrupts. He later confronts her about the lost Reno opportunity and hears her hint that she knows about his treatment. After dismissing the school's uncertain assessment, Tony spends time in the kitchen making ice-cream sundaes with his son.
