Elia Kane reports the Mandalorians' victory on Nevarro to Moff Gideon, who is free and operating with other Imperial leaders. He requests additional forces as they discuss their scattered operations. Meanwhile, Bo-Katan brings her followers to meet the covert, then assembles a mixed scouting party for Mandalore. Greef Karga gives Grogu IG-12, a vehicle built from IG-11's remaining body with controls for a small pilot. The child uses it to accompany Din into the ruins.
The scouts encounter Mandalorians who survived the Purge on the surface. Bo-Katan admits that she surrendered to Gideon in an attempt to spare her people, only for him to betray the agreement. Din pledges his loyalty to her character rather than her weapon or bloodline. Divisions still trouble the group, and Grogu intervenes when Axe Woves and Paz Vizsla fight. The Armorer takes weakened survivors back to the fleet while the others continue toward the Great Forge.
An enormous creature destroys the survivors' land ship, forcing the scouts underground. At the forge they encounter Imperial troops wearing beskar armor and pursue them into a hidden base. The advance becomes a trap: Din is cut off and captured, and Gideon appears in his own armored suit. He orders an attack on the fleet and demands Bo-Katan's surrender. She cuts an escape route with the Darksaber, but Paz stays behind to cover the retreat. He defeats the troops pursuing them before three Praetorian Guards attack and kill him. Din remains Gideon's prisoner as the others withdraw.
