Din Djarin visits Peli Motto on Tatooine in search of a memory circuit for IG-11. She cannot supply one, but sells him the astromech R5-D4 as an alternative scout. Din takes the droid and Grogu to Mandalore, where interference prevents reliable contact beyond the atmosphere. R5 disappears while gathering air samples, forcing Din to enter the ruins himself. After fighting off Alamites, he recovers the droid and learns that the supposedly poisoned air is breathable.
Further underground, a mechanical trap catches Din and leaves him held captive by a creature. He tells Grogu to get Bo-Katan. The child makes his way back to the ship, and R5 takes him to Kalevala. Bo-Katan follows Grogu into the ruins and defeats Din's captor, wielding the Darksaber with much greater ease than Din. Once he can move again, she offers to take him away, but he insists on finishing his journey to the Living Waters.
Bo-Katan leads him through the wreckage of the city she once knew. Their conversation exposes how differently they understand Mandalorian tradition: Din relies on the creed that held his people together, while she recalls royal ceremonies performed for their subjects. At the waters, he removes his weapons and starts reciting his oath as he steps into the pool. He suddenly sinks out of sight, and Bo-Katan dives after him. While bringing him back to the surface, she sees a living Mythosaur in the depths.
