Season synopsis

Alicia has established herself at Lockhart Gardner, but the job keeps forcing her to weigh courtroom strategy against loyalty to clients and colleagues. Will remains her boss and a source of unresolved attraction, while he dates sportswriter Tammy. Peter, newly free and rebuilding his political career, pushes toward a return to office with strategist Eli Gold guiding the family’s public image. Alicia tries to keep her children outside the campaign machinery even as Peter’s ambitions again reshape their home life. When Peter returns to politics, Eli treats Alicia as an essential part of his public strategy, even as she resists being used as a campaign prop.
At the firm, Alicia and Cary continue to compete, Kalinda’s investigations bring her into dangerous contact with drug dealer Lemond Bishop, and Diane and Will manage cases and internal power struggles. Alicia’s friendship with Kalinda fractures when she discovers that Kalinda once slept with Peter, a betrayal that makes the private cost of her marriage impossible to ignore. In the finale, Peter helps the firm by getting a crucial piece of evidence to Alicia, while Eli’s political maneuvering keeps Peter close to her future. Will and Alicia finally acknowledge their long-delayed feelings and choose an intimate encounter, ending the season with their relationship newly begun rather than settled.
