Stargate SG-1

Season 8

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

O’Neill’s survival and Earth’s new Ancient weapons draw SG-1 back into its alliance with the Asgard. Once rescued from stasis, he is promoted to general and takes command of Stargate Command, while Carter becomes a lieutenant colonel and leads the field team. The Replicator Fifth creates a human-form copy of Carter. That copy later offers to help the real Carter improve their anti-Replicator weapon, but uses the encounter to make herself immune instead, destroys Fifth and takes control of the machines.

Earth also faces the Trust, whose stolen Stargate and symbiote poison threaten Jaffa populations alongside the Goa’uld. As the larger war converges on Dakara, Teal’c and the rebel Jaffa seek to take the holy planet, while Ba’al acts under Anubis’s orders. RepliCarter searches Daniel’s mind for the location of Dakara’s weapon. His resistance gives Carter, Jacob and Ba’al time to combine it with the Stargate network and destroy the Replicators, although RepliCarter fatally wounds Daniel. Oma Desala stops Anubis’s plan to destroy life in the galaxy, and Daniel returns to human form.

The final mission takes SG-1 to ancient Egypt to retrieve a Zero Point Module from Ra’s treasury. Their intervention changes history, leaving a future without Stargate Command. Alternate versions of Carter, O’Neill and Teal’c travel back and meet the surviving original Daniel, then help the Egyptians overthrow Ra while ensuring that Earth keeps its Stargate. They leave the power source and a recording for their future selves. In the restored present, SG-1 receives both without needing to make the journey, and the season ends with the team fishing together.
