Yeong-ro takes the detonator toward the chapel, rejecting Soo-ho's assurance that he means to leave without hurting anyone. He recovers it and tries to explain his concern for her, while Chung-ya watches their encounter. Gang-mu continues arguing that the leaders intend to sacrifice everyone inside. Soo-ho finally agrees to consider proof, asking Han-na to bring evidence of the arrangement. Thirty students are released, but the ANSP takes them away for interrogation and intimidation rather than simply returning them home. Han-na records the officials' plans, and a reporter films the students' treatment. Their investigation is discovered, and both are seized before they can safely deliver what they have collected.
Inside, Seung-hee acknowledges her coerced connection to the ANSP and agrees to help Gang-mu protect the students. Yeong-ro receives the key to the concealed surveillance room and uses her watch to distract the guard near the mechanical area. Gang-mu overpowers Eung-cheol while the hostages begin moving toward an exit, and Chung-ya is briefly locked in a room. Bun-ok pursues the bag of money instead of joining the others. Soo-ho finds Yeong-ro in the hidden room, but Gang-mu intervenes and takes his weapon. For a moment, the students appear close to leaving. Chung-ya escapes confinement and confronts them with the detonator. She triggers an explosion that stops the escape and returns the building to the captors' control.
