Aimee is assaulted on the bus while bringing a birthday cake to Maeve. She tries to dismiss what happened, but Maeve insists that she deserves help and accompanies her to the police station. Giving an account of the assault and handing over her jeans makes the experience harder to keep at a distance. Maeve stays with her throughout a day she had expected to dislike because it is her birthday. At school, Otis and Jean separately hear from Olivia and Malek, whose difficulty with intimacy comes from Olivia's embarrassment about how she looks rather than a lack of attraction.
Otis's resentment toward Jakob erupts during a family game of Monopoly, upsetting Jean and driving Ola and her father away. He later apologizes to Jakob while making clear that he already has a father. Eric's date with Rahim becomes easier when they leave a formal restaurant for the arcade, where they kiss. Seeing Adam working at the shop afterward unsettles Eric. Jackson auditions successfully for the school musical with Viv's help. Erin arrives at Maeve's caravan after being hurt and rejected by her partner, and Maeve lets her stay without pretending their relationship is repaired. Aimee breaks down alone at home and cannot face her usual bus the next morning. Otis gives Maeve a diary with her birthdays removed.
