Cheoljong and the queen escape the cart search and enter the palace as the rival factions hurry a child king's coronation. Fighting their way forward, they reach the courtyard together. The scarred eunuch shoots them, but the protective clothing beneath their robes prevents the attack from killing them outright. The shock sends Bong-hwan back to his modern body, leaving So-yong in control of herself as Cheoljong continues toward the throne.
The missing royal seal delays the ceremony and reaches Cheoljong through his allies. He interrupts the coronation and confronts Jwa-geun, ending the attempt to replace him. The treason document gives him evidence against the ministers who joined the plot. He strips corrupt officials of their standing and wealth, while So-yong survives the night with her unborn child. Her recovery lets the king see her again after fearing that he had lost them both.
So-yong takes authority over the inner court and confines the two senior queens to the Western Palace. Bong-hwan, meanwhile, wakes to a different present: he is regarded as a whistleblower against the wrongdoing at the presidential residence. Looking up Cheoljong reveals a changed legacy within the drama's altered timeline. The chef has returned to his own life, while So-yong remains beside the king after a struggle that has changed both their futures.
