Season synopsis

Mac’s assignments span a treasure hunt and the Phoenix Foundation’s youth work. In “Legend of the Holy Rose,” archaeologist Zoe Ryan leads him from the British Museum to France, where a jewel magnate also seeks the prize. “Second Chance” brings Mac and bounty hunter Jesse Colton to a Bangkok clinic. Jesse learns his estranged wife has died and meets Willie, his unknown son. Willie’s anger leads him to help thieves steal the clinic’s dialysis machine, putting a sick child’s treatment in danger.
Murdoc asks Mac to help rescue his sister from the hit squad that once employed Murdoc, forcing the rivals into an uneasy partnership. Mac protects a Chinese student pursued after Tiananmen Square, helps stop rhino poachers, and exposes neo-Nazis using stolen art to finance a political takeover plan. He also goes undercover at a logging camp and discovers the owner’s Yakuza debt is driving illegal orders. In Peru, a search for Inca treasure threatens to become a source of funding for revolution.
In “Passages,” Harry suffers a fatal heart attack while fishing in Minnesota as Mac, in California, pursues a thief who stole an Egyptian artifact. The thief throws Mac from a parking garage, leaving him in a coma; his accomplice then poisons Mac in hospital. In a vision aboard the afterlife ship carrying Harry, Mac meets his parents, but returns after seeing that Pete is in danger. Mac survives and helps expose the artifact theft and attempted murder; Harry stays behind, and Pete later tells Mac that his grandfather has died.
