Sun refuses the Man in Black's offer to reunite her with Jin and runs away, striking her head on a branch. Afterward, she understands English but can only speak Korean. Jack gives her a way to communicate in writing and promises to help her find Jin. Richard returns to the beach determined to destroy the Ajira plane so the Man in Black cannot use it. Sun objects because that would also destroy her chance to leave with her husband. Across the island, Widmore's team tranquilizes the Man in Black's followers and abducts Jin. Zoe wants his help locating the electromagnetic sites recorded on old DHARMA maps.
The flash-sideways reveals that Sun and Jin are unmarried lovers hiding their relationship from her father. Keamy expects Jin to deliver money that customs has confiscated, while Sun discovers that her private account has been closed. Keamy tells the captive Jin that the money was payment for killing him. Sayid's attack on the restaurant gives Jin a chance to escape, but a fight with Mikhail leaves Sun wounded. She tells Jin she is pregnant as he carries her away. On Hydra Island, Widmore shows Jin photographs of his daughter. The Man in Black confronts Widmore and leaves Sayid behind to watch the submarine. Sayid sees the guarded passenger brought ashore: Desmond.
