Jack reveals a plan to place dynamite in the tents the Others expect to raid, while Sayid considers contacting Naomi's vessel. Juliet explains that the underwater Looking Glass station is jamming transmissions. Charlie volunteers to reach it after Desmond describes a vision in which disabling its equipment leads to Claire and Aaron escaping, but costs Charlie his life. Karl arrives with a warning that the raid has been brought forward. Sayid, Jin and Bernard prepare to shoot the explosive-filled tents while Jack leads the others toward the radio tower.
As preparations continue, Charlie writes down five memories he wants Claire to receive: hearing Drive Shaft on the radio, learning to swim with his father, receiving Liam's family ring, saving a woman from a mugger and meeting Claire after the crash. The flashbacks show these moments as he considers what he might lose. He says goodbye to Claire and leaves the ring in Aaron's crib before rowing out with Desmond. Above the station, Desmond offers to dive in his place. Charlie knocks him unconscious with an oar, leaves the list with him and enters the water. He reaches an air-filled chamber rather than the flooded station they expected, only to face two armed women.
