Flashbacks show Sun and Jin consulting a fertility doctor after failing to conceive. The doctor initially blames Sun, intensifying their arguments. Sun continues secret English lessons with Jae Lee while considering a life away from Jin. The doctor later approaches her privately and admits that Jin is infertile. He says he lied because he feared Jin's reaction, leaving Sun with information her husband has not heard and a marriage already damaged by his work for her father.
On the island, Jin destroys Sun's garden while demanding that she stay near the beach for safety. Sun obtains a pregnancy test from Sawyer, and Kate helps her use it. Jack confirms that a positive result is likely reliable. Jin later repairs the plants and apologises. Sun tells him about the pregnancy and the doctor's lie, insisting that she has been faithful. Jin accepts the news joyfully, treating it as another unexpected possibility on the island.
Ana Lucia questions the prisoner and obtains a map to the balloon and his wife's grave. She sets off with Sayid and Charlie to test the account, and apologises to Sayid for Shannon's death along the way. At the Swan, Jack and Locke learn about the map from Henry while he eats cereal. He describes how he could have used it to lure their friends into an ambush if he were an Other, leaving both men alarmed.
