Loki flees TVA hunters who do not recognise him and begins slipping involuntarily between different points in the agency's history. Casey's changing reactions help reveal that the unfamiliar headquarters is the same place in another time. In the past, Loki finds a recording connecting Renslayer to He Who Remains. In the present, Mobius and B-15 tell the remaining leadership that every employee is a variant taken from a timeline. Judge Gamble orders pruning stopped, while General Dox prepares hunters for a mission to find Sylvie. Loki warns Mobius about He Who Remains and the danger posed by the variants whose return he feared.
Mobius takes him to repairs and advancement technician Ouroboros, known as O.B., who identifies the problem as time slipping. Conversations with O.B. in the past and present produce a plan using a Temporal Aura Extractor. Mobius must carry the device towards the Temporal Loom while Loki is pruned at the right moment, allowing him to be pulled out of the time stream. The Loom is already straining under the growing branches. Loki slips into a future evacuation, sees Sylvie by an elevator and is pruned from behind before he can act. The extractor brings him back, and he and Mobius tumble to safety as the blast doors close. Elsewhere, Sylvie arrives at an Oklahoma McDonald's.
