U.S. Marshal Deafy Wickware joins Odis Weff in the hunt for Zelmare and Swanee. Their search of the Smutny home fails to uncover the fugitives, although Deafy questions the extra places set for dinner. Thurman later helps the women leave concealed in a casket. Doctor Senator meets Ebal Violante over the disputed slaughterhouse and refuses to concede that the Cannons' word carries less weight than the Faddas'. Meanwhile, Oraetta gets a job with Dr. Harvard and renews her sexual connection with Josto, who has been watching the hospital for an opportunity to reach Harvard.
Gaetano orders an attack on Loy's son Lemuel and uses it to test Rabbi's loyalty. Rabbi refuses to carry out the shooting without confirmation from Josto, preventing the hit and leaving Calamita furious. Zelmare and Swanee separately rob Loy's operation. Swanee has eaten Oraetta's pie and becomes violently sick during the robbery, vomiting on the stolen cash. The women nevertheless escape with the money after killing Cannon men. Loy receives reports of both the attack on his son and the robbery and suspects the Faddas are responsible for everything. Doctor Senator urges him to investigate who gave the orders before retaliating, since the brothers' rivalry may explain the attack.
