Gloria and Winnie find Ray dead. Police arrest Nikki at the motel and Chief Dammik tells her she is suspected of killing him. Nikki asks for a lawyer rather than answering his questions. Gloria doubts the account of an abusive relationship and tries to interview her, but officers insist on authorization from her superior. Winnie is ordered back to traffic work as Dammik challenges Gloria's continued involvement.
Emmit struggles through dinner with Sy and Ruby Goldfarb, then reacts defensively when Winnie brings news of Ray's death. He supplies suspicions and explanations before she has asked much. Sy takes him home and again proposes selling the company. Emmit instead accuses Sy of working with Ray. Sy denies it and returns to his wife in tears, while Varga remains close to Emmit at the house.
Yuri steals Ennis's file from the Eden Valley station after threatening Donny. At Nikki's cell, a disguised hitman attempts to inject her with a syringe. Gloria interrupts the attack, but the man escapes and security footage is sabotaged. Nikki tells Gloria to follow the money. A probation violation puts Nikki on a prison bus, shackled beside the deaf Mr. Wrench. On a dark road Yuri and his accomplices attack the transport, overturning it. Nikki is unconscious as they begin breaking into the wreck.
