Lester consoles Kitty after Chazz's arrest and begins clearing Pearl's belongings from his house. Gina comes to the insurance office furious that her claim has been rejected. When her sons try to threaten him, Lester strikes them with a stapler and tells Gina that Sam's unpaid premiums mean there will be no money. His confidence impresses Linda. Molly returns to work, but Bill will not reopen Lester's case. Malvo visits Wrench in hospital, kills the guard and offers the prisoner a handcuff key. He admits killing Numbers and leaves Wrench free to pursue revenge if he still wants it.
Budge and Pepper are punished for missing Malvo's massacre and sent to work in the FBI file room. A year passes. Gus has left the police and become a mail carrier; he and Molly are married and expecting a child. Molly still keeps the unsolved connections in view despite the department's explanation. Lester has married Linda and prospered in insurance. They travel to Las Vegas, where he receives a Salesman of the Year award. At the hotel bar, Lester sees Malvo with a group of companions. Malvo now has a different appearance and calls himself Dr. Michaelson, but Lester recognizes him.
