A flashback shows Malvo abducting an accountant from a St. Paul office, explaining how the man later found frozen near Bemidji ended up in his trunk. Deputy Molly follows that lead and obtains a security image of the kidnapping. Lester returns to work and visits Gina Hess about Sam's life insurance. Gina flirts with him while Wrench and Numbers watch from outside. The two men later confront Lester at his office, leaving when Molly arrives. Pretending to ask about insurance, she lets Lester see the security image. His alarm convinces her that he recognizes the man pictured with the accountant.
Bill remains angry that Molly is pursuing Lester. In Duluth, Malvo tells Don that he knows about the blackmail and takes over the scheme. He kills Stavros's dog, replaces his medication with Adderall and pours blood into his water supply, leaving Stavros terrified beneath a red shower. Officer Gus admits to his superior that he let the suspect drive away and travels to Bemidji to report it. He identifies the man in Molly's photograph as the driver he stopped. After meeting Greta, Molly invites them to Lou's diner. Lester visits Chazz and ends the episode firing his brother's machine gun.
