Spike and Jet lose their intended bounty when the Space Warriors attack a restaurant on Ganymede and kill him. They capture the group's leader, Twinkle Maria Murdock, hoping her larger reward will compensate for the loss. Elsewhere, Faye is stranded without fuel and searches a damaged ship, where a dying man entrusts her with a sealed container. Her distress call brings her back into the hunters' path. Aboard the Bebop, the container proves to be connected to the Space Warriors and their threat against Ganymede: a virus called Monkey Business that transforms human victims into apes.
The authorities cancel Murdock's bounty under pressure from her followers, forcing the crew to release her. That concession does not end the danger. The Space Warriors send missiles toward Ganymede through a hyperspace gate, and Spike flies out to stop them. Faye joins him, bargaining over the reward while the attack is already underway. When the remaining missile divides into smaller warheads, shooting them all becomes impossible. Closing the gate prevents the weapons from reaching Ganymede, but leaves Spike and Faye racing to escape before they are trapped too. Murdock remains inside with the virus Spike slipped into her pocket. The hunters survive without their promised profit, and Faye makes herself at home aboard the Bebop.
