A prison transport falls under the control of its inmates, with former syndicate assassin Udai Taxim emerging as the man directing the escape. Jet's old police partner Fad asks him to help bring Udai in. The name brings back the ambush that cost Jet his left arm, and he initially refuses to reopen the case. He eventually goes with Fad, leaving the Bebop crew behind and warning Ed that he may not return. When Udai destroys the police force sent to intercept the transport, Jet uses his knowledge of the fugitive's syndicate connections to work out where the ship is heading.
Jet boards the transport and confronts Udai in its corridors. His mechanical arm helps him survive the exchange, but Udai wounds him and tells him that the old ambush was arranged by the syndicate with Fad's cooperation. Fad, rather than Udai, fired the shot that destroyed Jet's arm. Before Jet can settle the confrontation, Fad kills Udai and confirms the betrayal. He then raises his revolver at Jet, who shoots him in response. Checking the weapon afterward, Jet finds only the spent cartridge used on Udai: Fad had no bullet left for him. Their reunion ends with a last cigarette instead of a renewed partnership. Jet survives, carrying a different account of the injury he had believed he understood.
