After the Wayfarer collision, Albuquerque is trying to make sense of the disaster while Walter White sits alone in the house Skyler has left. She gives him time to move out with their children, but Walt struggles with the guilt he connects to Jane Margolis’s death. He tries to burn his drug money, then rescues it from the flames and takes it with him to a new apartment. At school, he is asked to speak at an assembly for students and staff affected by the crash. His attempt to put the loss in perspective lands badly, and the room is left uncomfortable rather than reassured.
Skyler consults a divorce lawyer, then confronts Walt with papers and custody terms. When she calls him a drug dealer, he admits he cooks meth; she says she will keep his secret if he agrees to the divorce. Jesse is in rehab, blaming himself for Jane’s death. A group session leader’s story about causing his own daughter’s death gives Jesse a different way to think about guilt, though Jesse still calls himself the bad guy when Walt tries to comfort him. Walt takes that as reason to quit and turns down Gus Fring’s offer to pay him for a three-month cook. The Salamanca twins cross into the United States looking for Heisenberg, killing fellow migrants and their driver after one recognises their cartel ties.
