Mike and Jimmy reach a truck stop, where Tyrus and Victor collect them. Jimmy posts Lalo’s bail and repeats the cover story Mike prepared: his car broke down, so he walked alone with the money. Lalo is released and says he plans to return to Mexico rather than face prosecution. Kim tends Jimmy’s sunburn and injuries at home, but she spots the bullet hole in his coffee mug and realizes his story is false.
Kim tells Jimmy she has left Schweikart & Cokely and given up Mesa Verde so she can return to pro bono work. Jimmy thinks the choice is reckless, but she explains that she wants to help people directly. Mike reports to Gus that Juan Bolsa arranged the attack on Jimmy to protect Gus’s business, and that Nacho wants to stop informing. Gus refuses to release Nacho, keeping him inside the Salamanca organization.
Lalo returns to the desert pickup site with Nacho, finds Jimmy’s bullet-riddled car, and orders Nacho to drive back to Albuquerque. At their apartment, Lalo questions Jimmy about the trip while Mike listens by telephone and covers Lalo with a rifle from a nearby roof. Kim challenges Lalo to trust Jimmy and reminds him that the lawyer delivered the money. Lalo seems satisfied and leaves, but then tells Nacho to change plans and drive to Mexico, leaving the danger unresolved.
