A flashback shows Chuck rescuing Jimmy from a Chicago jail after an unspecified scam that could have made him register as a sex offender. Chuck agrees to represent his brother only if Jimmy gives up cons and builds a legitimate life in Albuquerque. In the present, Nacho tells Jimmy he plans to take the Kettlemans’ embezzled money. Jimmy warns Kim Wexler, who represents the family, then anonymously calls the Kettlemans himself and tells them they may be in danger.
The next morning, the Kettlemans have vanished from their home. Police suspect Nacho, who admits he watched the family but denies taking them. He threatens Jimmy unless he can get the charges dropped. Jimmy persuades Kim to let him inspect the house, where a missing child’s doll suggests to him that the family left voluntarily. Jimmy admits he warned them, which may have prompted them to hide.
At the courthouse, Jimmy picks a fight with Mike, who initially agrees to let police use an assault charge to pressure Jimmy into testifying against Nacho. Mike later changes his mind and points Jimmy toward the truth about the Kettlemans. Following Mike’s advice, Jimmy searches the desert near their home and finds the family camping nearby. He confronts them and discovers the money they stole, realizing they staged their disappearance rather than being kidnapped.
