Day 6: 10:00 P.M. - 11:00 P.M.

Contains spoilers for this episode.

Wayne Palmer's apparent nuclear attack forces the ambassador's government to reveal that General Habib helped Fayed organize the bombings. Wayne aborts the missile and explains that it carried no warhead: the launch was a bluff to force cooperation. His physical condition continues to worsen, however, and he struggles to keep working after another collapse. Jack still cannot get Fayed to disclose where the last two bombs are hidden.

CTU stages an armed rescue of Fayed, using its own men as terrorists supposedly sent by Habib. Fayed insists on speaking to the general before revealing his destination. The call initially reassures him, but Nadia notices that Habib mentioned a dead associate, suggesting a warning. Before Jack can protect the undercover team, Fayed attacks them and escapes through a tunnel. Jack finds him leaving in a sanitation truck and climbs beneath it.

Jack rides the truck to a warehouse where Fayed plans to move the weapons for an attack on downtown Los Angeles. Without waiting for backup, he kills the gunmen and fights Fayed at close range. Jack uses a chain to hang him, ending the pursuit. Doyle arrives and confirms that both nuclear weapons are secure. Then a call interrupts the relief: Audrey is alive and pleading for help. Cheng Zhi takes the phone and demands that Jack contact him privately if he wants her to survive.
