Nina meets Amador at the mine while Chase watches and reports to CTU. She tests the sample and confirms that it is the virus, allowing Tony to order the assault teams forward. Amador takes the vial back before giving her a briefcase and accepting the payment. Nina carries the case to Ramon, who turns a gun on Jack now that the purchase is complete. Chase shoots Ramon before he can kill Jack, and the approaching troops open a wider battle.
Nina escapes into the woods while Jack pursues Ramon and the case. Jack and Chase corner him and try to recover the cylinder without firing at it. A timer sounds as Ramon begins to put it down, and the device explodes. Jack realizes Amador switched the sample for a bomb. Another Delta team intercepts Amador but is ambushed by waiting gunmen. Amador destroys his phone and escapes with the real virus, leaving Jack and Chase to search for Nina.
Sherry visits Kevin Kelly, who says Milliken paid him to conceal responsibility for the car crash that killed his daughter. Kelly wants a pardon for his imprisoned son in exchange for speaking, but disappears before Sherry can complete the arrangement. She then contacts Julia Milliken. At CTU, Kim challenges Chloe's changing account of the baby and reports her concerns to Tony. He delays dealing with the situation because Chloe is needed to maintain the operation's audio coverage.
